Behavior Change

In addition to changing and improving the built environment through planning and design, behavior change is a goal of many organizations. Advocacy groups, for example, may be seeking to change behaviors related to how people travel, to increase walking and bicycling trips. Law enforcement agencies, school officials, or injury prevention groups may seek to improve safety behaviors, to help reduce the role that behaviors play in contributing to crashes. In this section, we provide resources related to law enforcement, education, and encouragement programs geared at changing traveler behaviors.
