Helps users to understand how the Traffic Monitoring Guide (TMG) format describes the information that should be collected when counting multimodal users, as well as how to format that information correctly. Successfully encoding count data in the TMG format is very important for obtaining the greatest value from collected counts. As with the motorized formats, the TMG nonmotorized format will be the required format for data submitted to the Traffic Monitoring Analysis System (TMAS), a national database maintained by the Federal Highway Administration that is currently being extended to receive nonmotorized count data. This guide walks through the TMG format and provides examples from a variety of counting scenarios.
