Proactive Safety for Vulnerable Road Users Leveraging Digital Twin Technology
Source: Federal Highway Administration (FHWA)
Describes a new technology that leverages digital-twin (DT) technology to estimate likelihood of a crash in certain scenarios by predicting trajectories of vehicles and people walking, biking, and rolling, and creating collision warnings. A real-time synchronization between real and digital versions will be able to conduct simulations between people driving vehicles, people outside of the vehicle, and roadway conditions, and predict potential collisions.
