To assist States and localities in obtaining current, state-of-the-art information on bicycle and pedestrian facility design, this case study report presents a compilation of the best practices in use across the country.

The report focuses on current national standards and how State and local agencies are exceeding these standards. It examines how successful program have become successful, and what mechanisms local and Atate agencies have put in place to enforce adopted transportation guidelines and standards.

This report is one of twenty-four reports in the National Bicycling and Walking Study series.
