Source: Pedestrian and Bicycle Information Center (PBIC)

Info brief investigates factors associated with high rates of bicycling to school at the individual school level to identify replicable ways that teachers, administrators, Safe Routes to School coordinators, and community leaders can facilitate active transportation. The study looks specifically at four schools with high rates of bicycling compared to 11 control schools with average biking rates, all in Santa Clara, California. Additionally, this research integrates other factors that directly relate to bicycling, such as school bicycling policy, local infrastructure, and dedicated bicycling staff.
