Source: AASHTO
The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) released its Guide for the Planning, Design, and Operation of Pedestrian Facilities, Second Edition in December 2021. It provides guidance on pedestrian facilities along streets and highways and identifies effective measures for accommodating pedestrians in public rights-of-way as well as appropriate methods for accommodating them on a variety of roadway and facility types. The revised guide also recognizes the profound effect that land use planning and site design have on pedestrian mobility.
