Vulnerable Road User Safety Assessments
Source: Federal Highway Administration (FHWA)
As part of the Highway Safety Improvement Program, all states are required to complete a Vulnerable Road User Safety Assessment and include it in their State Strategic Highway Safety Plan (SHSP) by November 15, 2023. These assessments use a data-driven process to identify high-risk areas for vulnerable road users, develop strategies to reduce safety risks, and consult with local governments. The completed assessments will be posted on state websites as part of their SHSP, with an interactive map available for easy access.
