A Systemic Safety Study of Pedestrians in Tribal Areas
Source: Federal Highway Administration (FHWA)
Pedestrian safety in Tribal communities is a critical concern shaped by unique challenges. To help address challenges, the Federal Highway Administration conducted a comprehensive study to identify risk factors for pedestrian crashes occurring in Tribal areas and develop tools and strategies for improving pedestrian safety. The study provides resources to help Tribal and other practitioners identify high-risk areas, implement effective pedestrian safety countermeasures, and prioritize safety improvements or locations. This work supports equitable, connected transportation networks and empowers agencies to proactively plan and improve pedestrian safety in their communities
